Most of us live a life of constantly “being switched on”. Our nervous systems forever jacked up with the adrenaline and cortisol engines pumping hard on all cylinders.

That’s cool for a bit but without some sort of intervention, “burnout” can very quickly pull our pants down. Tired, overwhelmed, stressed out - not a pleasant place to be.

Disconnecting from everyday life, just for a sec, and reconnecting with not just nature, but other people too, is a wonderful thing...which is why we created these semi wild, escapes to the woods...

Oh hi there...let me introduce us- I'm Phil (the bald one), he's Bruce (the bearded one)

I run the Upgraded Mind group - a self improvement company that provides a whole heap of badass solutions to folks wanting to worry less, laugh more and live fully.

I'm one of those woodland creatures - way more at home outside, making fire, with grubby fingernails. I know what nature does to my own mental health and for years have desperately wanted to share it with others, and have some kind of outdoor experience to offer. As luck would have it, Bruce joined one of my programmes and to put it lightly "totally TRANSFORMED" himself. It became apparent he was as stupidly sucked in by the outdoors, as mad on fishing and as slightly odd as me, and knew of a woodland we could use. So we teamed up...and The Upgraded Mind Wild (ish) Camps were born...

So what's involved with these semi - wild camps?

If you want a weekend jam packed with gnarly, adrenaline fuelled stuff? This isn't it. If you want naked moonlit dances while we sacrifice worms to the wellness Gods? This isn't for you either. But if you want a wholesome, mind calming, noise reducing experience with some good humans and excellent vibes, get involved.

  • Create, learn and lose yourself in our expertly guided workshops - learn to weave willow (May camp), learn the ancient art of Qi Gong or learn "Cyanography" to create some awesome "wild" prints using the sun's rays (Aug camp)

  • Drift away during some guided meditation sessions amongst the trees and soak up some of nature's goodness

  • Learn how important breathing is and discover some techniques in a breath work master class,that can instantly create calm in any situation

  • Ever wanted to know what this cold water trend is all about? We've got a lovely freezing bath just for that (totally optional!)

  • Marvel at "Bruces's Trees" - we'll head out for a beaut of a walk and have a look at Bruce's favourite ancient trees

  • Get back to basics with some fire lighting, food cooking, tea drinking and NO PHONES

  • Campfire chats, ghost stories, crap jokes, terrible guitar playing (mainly Oasis), and all round excellent company

Let me answer a few questions you probably have...

  • Cost, tell me about cost

    £330 That includes everything except your tent and sleeping kit. We'll feed you, entertain you, pick you up from the station if req'd, and everything else in between.

  • Toilets...what's the score there?

    Never fear, we have actual toilets. We use long drop style compost toilets with lovely hand made wooden cubicles for your privacy.

  • What happens if it rains?

    The weather may indeed turn on us. If it does, we have some covered areas - or we build a shelter. Adversity is not something we can avoid in life, we just overcome it.

  • What do I need to bring?

    We'll supply the woods, the food, teas and coffees. You'll need to bring your own tent / hammock / tarp (if you're feeling adventurous!), sleeping kit, and some cutlery. Kit list will be supplied.

  • What if I don't have my own tent?

    Get one. A tent is like a passport and enables you to have some mega adventures. But, if you can't get hold of one a VERY limited supply can be lent out.

  • Do I need to be physically fit?

    Not particularly. There won't be any strenuous exercise although we will head out for a relatively easy 2hr hike

  • I really can't do cold water. Will you make me?!

    Certainly not. We're not about creating worry though we ARE about upgrading yourself. If you fancy the challenge, then the cold bath is there ;-)

  • Is there phone reception in case of emergencies at home?

    Yes. Whilst we encourage putting your phone away, you can still have it with you if you like. Plus you'll get my phone number to give to family etc as another point of contact

  • Reduce The Noise

    PING!! Sick of yet another notification pulling your focus and creating more noise in your head? Step away from all that for a few days and you'll be amazed what happens...

  • Reconnect

    Hippy it may sound, but when you disconnect with the stress and anxiety of life you reconnect with yourself and other people (and you'll be camping with some awesome humans)

  • Recharge

    Everyday life is an energy sapping machine. Get amongst the trees, plug yourself in to nature's megawatt battery and go home fully recharged.
